No visa expiry date for skilled foreign workers who will be allowed to accompany family, too.

I feel the “change/reform” described in this news article is too hasty considering the impact that can cause.

A new visa category, “Tokutei Ginou 1-go” and “Tokutei Ginou 2-go”, literally means “Specific Skill, class-1” and “Specific Skill, class-2” in Japanese, will be available in April next year (2019). Class-1 visa allows up to 5 years stay and requires a skill or knowledge specified by the government and the Japanese ability capable of daily life in Japan. Those who have Class-1 visa then go through an exam to prove their matured skill are granted Class-2 visa and Class-2 visa holders can stay in Japan permanently and bring their family (spouse and children) to Japan. The government plans to include nursing care, agriculture, construction, accommodation business for this newly-created visa.
