Illegal workers and their employers are to be liable for compliance with the law
June is the month to combat illegal working problems of foreign nationals promoted by the Immigration Bureau under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice in Japan.
Dual liability: Not only those illegal foreign workers, but also the employers are liable for compliance with the law
Penalties for employers (who are encouraging illegal employment): An imprisonment for up to 3 years or fine up to 3 million yen (JPY3,000,000)
Foreign nationals engaged in illegal working include the following:
- Those who came to Japan illegally or those who were deported are working in Japan
- Those who are not allowed to work with their visa (status of residence)
- Those who are engaged in the work that is beyond the scope of working activities granted with their visa (status of residence)
